Psychological Support
What Is Counselling?
Counselling means someone listens to you in a supportive way.
How Counselling Works
An initial assessment is made with the patient to determine whether Link to Life counselling services would be helpful.
This assessment is done in confidence.
Individual Counselling
Also known as one-to-one supportive counselling, individual counselling allows patients to talk openly and confidentially with a trained counsellor about:
- Personal problems and worries
- Cancer diagnosis and treatment
- Emotional challenges
If patients are unable to visit Link to Life in person, phone counselling is also available.
In both settings, the counsellor listens with empathy and helps the patient explore their thoughts and feelings.
Counselling can help individuals:
- Cope with a cancer diagnosis
- Feel more in control and less overwhelmed
- Manage anxiety, depression, and emotional distress
- Handle symptoms and side effects such as pain or fatigue
- Improve self-image and emotional well-being
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy where one or more counsellors work with several people at the same time.
The group often includes members at different stages of treatment, providing hope and encouragement to those at the beginning of their journey.
Counselling can help individuals:
- Helps participants realize they are not alone
- Encourages the sharing of personal experiences
- Builds self-esteem through mutual support
- Provides feedback and insight from others
- Fosters a sense of belonging and acceptance
Sharing emotions with people who understand can relieve stress, guilt, and emotional pain.
Link to Life organizes group therapy sessions twice a month. On these days, patients are welcome to engage in group discussions or speak individually with our counsellors.
Home Visits
Link to Life offers a home visit service for patients who are bed-ridden (Performed on appointment basis only) or unable to travel.
Home visits are scheduled by appointment only and are conducted by a counsellor/psychotherapist and a social worker.
This service provides emotional and psychological support to both the patient and their family.
